The SPERA 2022 conference covered all aspects of environmental radioactivity, ranging from advances in methods, new research in radioecology and emergency preparedness and in contaminated sites as well as applications of radiotracers in environmental processes. There was a full schedule of oral presentations with an inclusive atmosphere which enabled vigorous and productive discussion amongst attendees. This was complemented by several informative and insightful talks by invited speakers. The four key themes of the conference were Instruments & Method Development, Contaminated Sites – impact assessment & Emergency preparedness, Radioecology and Radiotracers in environmental processes.
